Entry Requirements
You must be 19+ years of age by 31 August 2020. You have to have been a resident in the European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 years or be a family member of an EEA national.

Content & Overview
You will be supported to develop your job searching and interview skills. ESOL Employability is delivered at two levels.
Suitable For
This course is for adult speakers of other languages who wish to learn or improve their English and employability skills.
Pre-Entry – Entry 1
This course is for you if you are out of work, have a low level of English and would like to improve. You will learn new basic words to help you with work-related things and reading simple texts.
You will also attend sessions where they can learn how to use computers. You will be supported to develop your job searching and interview skills.
You do not take exams but you will set yourself personal targets. When you finish the course, you will receive a certificate for taking part.
Entry 2 – Entry 3
This course is for you if you are unemployed and understand English a bit better, you can read, write and talk with others, but you would like to improve your skills further.
You can develop your interview skills, practise job search, fill in application forms and write or update your CV to improve your job prospects.
You have at least one meeting with a person to help you with your future plans and a practice job interview.
Gateway Essential Digital Skills Qualification will be part of the course and you will be able to take an exam in using computers at your level.
You will also have the chance to take Trinity ESOL exams in Reading, Writing or Speaking and Listening at the right level while on the course or after the course.

Application Method
Application followed by an interview. You will need to bring with you all documents including ID, National Insurance Number and any certificates.
Delivery Method
Teaching and learning will be face-to-face and/or online sessions through Google classroom including small group work.
Homework
You will be expected to work between 1-2 hours per week on activities at home, including using online platforms, as directed by your tutor.
Assessment
You are assessed by question and answer and reading and writing. You will be given feedback and time to improve and change your work. Once you have met your targets, new goals are set in order for you to progress. Gateway Essential Digital Skills Qualification Trinity ESOL exams at your level. There are set dates during the year for these exams. You can also attend the courses without taking an exam if you have a learning difficulty or if the exam is not right for you.
Further Study
When you have finished the course you can progress onto:
- the next ESOL Entry Level
- GATEWAY Award in Living and Working in the UK
- GATEWAY Award in British Values.
- Level 1 or Level 2 Functional Skills English
- Higher Education courses.

You will need to bring a notepad, an A4 lever arch file and pen with you.
