CONTENT & OVERVIEW
The course identifies the use of camera controls and menus, recording media and digital image manipulation techniques. You will learn how to capture images with shutter speeds, apertures, ISO settings and basic visual language techniques. You are encouraged to produce a portfolio of work for assessment and your own use.

This course is designed for adults who are beginners and learners with a basic understanding of the techniques and processes used in either digital or film photography. The course is suitable for users of compact cameras, bridge cameras and digital SLR cameras.
An initial assessment identifies your individual learning and support needs to enable the design of an individual learning plan which will provide the structure for your learning. This is followed by signing on to the course.
You must be 19+ years of age by 31 August 2019. There are no formal entry requirements.
A variety of teaching and learning strategies will be employed including practical demonstrations using both digital SLR and compact cameras. Digital editing techniques will be taught using Adobe Photoshop Elements.
You can further develop skills and techniques with tasks set as homework to allow experimentation and to add to your portfolio.
The course is continuously assessed using a variety of assessments and you will produce a portfolio of your course work which will be internally moderated and externally moderated by NCFE (the awarding body for the course). You are encouraged to provide an online portfolio with the use of Google Classroom as part of the course.
Guidance is given throughout the course regarding opportunities and careers. Upon successful completion of this course, you can progress onto the Level 2 Certificate in Photography.
You will need to bring your digital camera, instruction book, 8GB (min) memory stick, notebook and pen. There may be image printing for your portfolio which will incur additional costs which can be discussed as and when you may require it.

- Job Seeker’s Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) in the Work Related Activity Group (WRAG)
- Universal Credit and earning less than £338.00 a month (single claim) or £541.00 (household claim)
- Aged 19-23 yrs studying a first full Level 2 qualification
Fee remission is also available for eligible co-funded learners who are employed but on a low income (less than £16,009.50 annual gross salary)
