Employability

Employability is about being ‘job ready’. This includes the ‘soft skills’ outside of formal qualifications that employers are looking for and these depend on the type of work it is.

How do you gain employability skills?

You may have some of these skills without even realising. Doing a CV plan can help to identify where you have these skills. In addition, a Skills Assessment can also help, these are available online free of charge from the National Careers Service website

Adult Education and Community Learning offer courses suitable to boost your employability skills and enhance your overall chances of gaining employment.  If you are a customer of Jobcentre Plus, ask your Work Coach about our Employability and Digital Skills courses.

These courses are aimed at giving you the necessary skills to be able to look for a job, handle an interview and skills that will carry you through to employment. With support networks in place to help you with your CV, interview skills and information, advice and guidance on looking for work. Adult Education and Community Learning are able to offer group and one-to one appointments with the Careers and Employability Coordinator.

All of our courses are embedded with employability skills, so whatever you feel you need to do, your tutor will be able to help or refer you to the Careers and Employability Coordinator for one-to-one advice.
