Karen

I really enjoyed the Essential Digital Skills course and learning how to use Microsoft Word and staying safe online. I’ve previously trained in childcare and as a carer, but now I’m looking to progress and look for work in the digital world. I’m helping in a school using a computer and this is something I could have never done prior to doing the course. I’ve now moved onto the next level and learning more about Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

After three years of studying English and a focused period of learning mathematics, I can now handle everyday matters and confidently assist friends, who have resided in the UK for over a decade, with their daily challenges. The ESOL and Maths courses have significantly enhanced my independence. Consequently, my life in the UK has improved greatly.

I wouldn’t be able to do my job if I hadn’t done the TA level 1 & 2 courses. Every day I come across something that reminds me of a lesson or an experience I had during my time as a learner at AECL. I would strongly recommend doing the TA level 1 if you are thinking of working in education. View our Working With and Understanding Children Courses.

Doing the Level 2 Teaching Assistant course with Adult Education & Community Learning has given me the confidence and the knowledge to do something that I didn’t previously have the confidence to do.

I received a lot of support from North Lincolnshire Adult Education. Regarding my own mental health, doing these courses has given me a purpose. I’m now far more confident with the computer after doing the digital courses and the Stress Awareness course has helped with my confidence. It has helped me to volunteer at a local men’s mental health group. View our Personal Development & Wellbeing Courses.

I came to Adult Education to learn better reading and spelling skills to enable me to help my grandson who is only 7 years of age. So, I’m now able to help him with his learning as well.
It’s so easy the way I’m taught here compared to when I was at school. I can retain the information.
I learnt how to produce a CV and received help from the Careers Advisor. She helped me realise how many skills I already had from previous work. I applied for a job driving a minibus, bringing pupils to Study United at Glanford Park and have been offered the job which I’m looking forward to starting. Nigel did an English Course. Since doing the Understanding Mental Health in Early Years course I have gone on to enrol on the Children’s Learning & Education degree course at university. The tutor at Adult Education was very experienced and knowledgeable. She used lots of different ways to keep the group interacting with each other. We used Google Classroom for our online work which was something I had never used and there was lots of help and information.

I have found it brilliant. It’s been hard work but you have to work hard to achieve. My partner wrote a letter and I could tell her where she had made mistakes and edit it with her. I’ve now got a job at Go Outdoors. It’s nice to engage with the public and people asking questions. View our English and Maths Courses.

I feel I have not only gained IT skills but also had a wonderful opportunity to make new friends on the course, I have set up a WhatsApp group with three other course members; we meet up for coffee and stay connected on a regular basis. I am enjoying it very much and looking forward to learning more IT skills to help me gain skills and a qualification to gain employment. Aleya did a digital skills course. The passion of the tutors who led the course and their ability to further bring out the passion inside me enabled me to seek an alternative career with children where I would be able to use my new knowledge, experience of additional needs and years of experience as SENCO. I was told about a Foundation Degree in Supporting Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Well-being, and I jumped at the chance to enrol and started it at university. I love working with children. I started my career in school as a Polish Learning Mentor and after a few months I decided to do a Teaching Assistant course with AECL. Now, I can say that it was the best choice in my life! My tutors were always very helpful, and we could contact each other by phone calls, emails or Google Classroom chat. The main benefit of the course is that I have got a job as a Teaching Assistant in a school! I could not have got this job without attending this course, so I would highly recommend the TA course!
