Learning new skills has boosted my self-confidence and self-esteem. It helped me to set targets and successfully achieve them. I also now have a positive feeling of achievement. Interacting with other students helped me build and strengthen my social relationships. I am now a registered  Immigration Advisor for the Settlement Scheme working with a local employer.

As my children were getting older, I felt that I wanted to do something to educate myself. Gaining these skills has made me feel I can have a career rather than just a job. Not only has it helped me, but I can now show my daughter how to do spreadsheets and formulas. I can also help her with her homework.  Now I have these digital skills I can also do my husband’s accounts on a spreadsheet.

I bought a computer and knew nothing. Now I’m confident in using it. I want to continue learning more and more. I am learning C.A.D (Computer-Aided Design) and have discussed looking for a job that is commutable e.g Doncaster, Sheffield or Hull.

Adult Education and Community Learning changed my life for the better. Amazing people work there. ESOL Classes helped me at work to be able to communicate with people, I made new friends and I feel safer and happier.

I’ve made a lot of new friends and it’s taught me a new skill that I can hopefully do as a career one day. I have confidence to now do photography outside of the class and help family and friends with their photography. I have been doing friends’ weddings and some food photography as I have a friend who has a cafe. I have also taken some pictures for a night club and in the future I would like to start my own business.

After I had successfully completed the Business Administration course I felt more confident in myself, so I did the ECDL level 2. With the help of Adult Education & Community Learning I have gained my knowledge and preferred job within 15 months. Which is still like a dream to me.

It’s really surprised me, as I was nervous to do it but now I feel very confident. Never think you can’t come back into Education. It’s there for everyone.

I have gained a huge amount of confidence in myself and now believe I can do something if  I set my mind to it. I know it’s ok to say, “I’m proud of me”. During my voluntary placement I was offered a teaching assistant position. I have gained confidence and self belief as well as a rewarding career after my course at North Lincolnshire Adult Education and Community Learning.

The courses I have done have given me the confidence to join other classes such as the walking group at the Arc. They have also led to me living a more healthy lifestyle. I now have the confidence to apply for jobs.

I have Parkinsons and doing this course brought me out from a hidden depth and led to me doing so much more. Since attending the computer course, I have joined the library, joined an exercise class at the Pods Leisure Centre and I plan to join an art & craft class in the future. I was not aware of extra equipment such as a Trackball mouse until I did this course. This was very useful.

I’d already been doing photography for a number of years but during these courses I have learnt a lot of new techniques and experimental stuff that I had not considered before. I’ve now photographed a few weddings and do portraits for friends. I’ve learnt so much about studio lighting. I’d recommend any adult with an interest in photography to do a course here. It’s a worthwhile experience because  you get a lot out of it and make new friends. In the future I may venture out into a small photography business.
