Claire

I previously worked as an Early Years Practitioner and then a Teaching Assistant for 10 years. After qualifying to teach two years ago, I now teach the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning and the Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools. I also teach some Multiply sessions involving maths, art and cooking.
I was a learner with AECL in 2014 and more recently I studied a distance learning course here.
I love my career. I am very lucky to work amongst amazing, inspiring staff and we all work hard to make the learners feel valued. I would say my favourite part of the role is seeing a learner’s confidence grow and know I supported that.

I lead the Education and Training department and teach on the NCFE Supporting Teaching and Learning course. I have worked in education for over 25 years and have been a tutor at AECL for four years. In my role, I provide quality assurance for the department and love to read all the fantastic assignments our learners produce.
I am passionate about providing a quality and inclusive education for all and enjoy visiting my learners in their schools. As a tutor, parent and school governor I am aware of the challenges within the education system and love to see my learners overcoming barriers and supporting children in school. I am very approachable and welcoming and love to meet new learners and guide them onto the right courses.
In my spare time I love to keep fit, walk my dog and read, especially in the sunshine.

I work on the ESOL courses and Preparing to Work in Schools Level 1 course. I am still quite new to the role but I am enjoying the fresh challenge. I have worked in education for 14 years and previously taught in primary schools.
I enjoy working with adults on the different courses I teach as I like helping people on their learning journey and seeing the progress they make over time. Providing people with new knowledge and skills is very rewarding which is why I enjoy teaching.
In my spare time, I like to swim, run, play racket sports and take part in dance fitness classes. Exercise is very important to me and helps to keep my body and mind healthy. I am also learning Spanish which gives me the opportunity to continue learning.

I deliver some of the workshops and courses around early years mental health and children’s anxiety.
I have worked as part of the Adult Education and Community Learning team for four years now and really love my job. After working in early years and family support throughout my career I have developed a passion for children’s mental health and love to develop people’s knowledge about the importance of the early years, from conception to five years, as this period builds the foundation for future health and development; having a massive impact. Want to know more? Book on and come see me to find out more! In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog, Louie, and spending time with my grown up children. I love reading and usually have three books on the go at once! A fiction, non-fiction and an audiobook!
